Job summary

NEPEAN Longwall in Mackay is seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer to join the team. You will contribute to the design, analysis and support of longwall mining equipment and componentry, working with engineering, drafting, procurement and field teams.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager – QLD, you will be involved from concept through to detailed design, manufacture and in-field support, including development mining equipment and diesel vehicles distributed by NEPEAN in Australia.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• 5–10 years of engineering experience in mining, heavy industrial, or manufacturing.
• Experience with longwall or underground coal mining equipment is highly regarded.
• Strong 3D CAD design and analysis using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Vault.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies and systems for longwall mining equipment, including AFCs, BSLs, drive units, chain and flight systems and structural steelwork.
• Complete engineering calculations and analysis, including stress, fatigue and load analysis, to meet safety and customer requirements.
• Produce and review 3D models, assembly models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault.
• Prepare and review specifications, BOMs, technical reports and design verification records.
• Collaborate with engineering, drafting, procurement, fabrication and site teams to deliver practical outcomes.
