Job summary

NEPEAN Longwall in Paget, Mackay QLD, seeks a motivated Hydraulics Fitter with cylinder rebuild experience to join our workshop-based team working on specialised underground mining equipment.

This local role offers a 4-day compressed working week, above award wages, and a supportive team environment. You will fault-find, overhaul hydraulic cylinders, pumps and valves, read schematics, and work closely with electrical and mechanical trades to maintain safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Fitter/Hydraulics Fitter or equivalent.
• Experience hydraulics in mining, heavy industrial or mobile plant environments.
• Longwall/underground coal experience is highly regarded but not essential.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Safety-focused with excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and overhaul hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves and manifolds.
• Fault-find, test and commission hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret hydraulic schematics and drawings.
• Ensure all work meets quality, safety and WHS standards.
• Collaborate closely with electrical and mechanical trades.

NEPEAN Longwall is a leading provider of longwall mining equipment and services to Australia’s underground coal industry. Due to continued growth, we are seeking a motivated and reliable Hydraulics Fitter with Cylinder Rebuild experience to join our team based in Paget, Mackay QLD.

This is a local, workshop-based role offering a 4-day compressed working week, providing genuine work-life balance while working on specialised underground mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assembly and overhaul of hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves and manifolds
• Fault-finding, testing and commissioning of hydraulic systems
• Reading and interpreting hydraulic schematics and drawings
• Ensuring all work meets quality, safety and WHS standards
• Working closely with electrical and mechanical trades

About You

• Trade qualification as a Fitter / Hydraulics Fitter or similar
• Experience in hydraulics within mining, heavy industrial or mobile plant environments
• Longwall or underground coal experience (highly regarded, not essential)
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Safety-focused with strong attention to detail
