Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 3–5 years of mechanical engineering/design experience.
• Experience designing products and components using plastics.
• SolidWorks modelling, assemblies and drawing creation.
• Experience administering SolidWorks PDM environments.
• Hands-on prototype development and 3D printing.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation control skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

• Review, update and optimise existing mechanical designs and assemblies for a specific product.
• Create and modify 3D models, drawings and engineering documentation using SolidWorks.
• Develop preliminary component designs and prototypes for product trials and validation activities.
• Work with plastic component designs, manufacturability considerations and product improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and version control.
• Migrate and manage engineering files within the SolidWorks PDM environment.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are practical and production-ready.
• Utilise 3D printing technologies to support rapid prototyping and design iterations.
• Identify design issues and implement engineering solutions within project timeframes.
• Ensure documentation accuracy, quality standards and system integrity are maintained throughout the project.

Profile

• Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical engineering / design experience.
• Experience designing products and components using plastics.
• SolidWorks capability, including modelling, assemblies and drawing creation.
• Previous experience administering or working within SolidWorks PDM environments.
• Hands-on experience with prototype development and 3D printing technologies.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation control skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands‑on approach.

Job Offer

• Competitive hourly rate of $66 to $72 AUD.
