Upwind Security is seeking a Security Engineer to join our MDR team as the founding Australia member of the Security organization. You will focus on proactive reviews, provide advanced guidance to customers, and independently own AUS hours coverage.

This role offers the chance to work with analysts, researchers, and engineers, with a clear path toward technical or team leadership as the AUS presence scales.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on cybersecurity experience in cloud environments.
• Experience with detection engineering and incident response.
• Ability to explain attack techniques and risks clearly.
• Proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Comfort with Linux; Windows knowledge is a plus.
• Based in Australia and available for AUS hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist in fine-tuning Upwind's detection and response mechanisms.
• Support proactive reviews of customer environments to identify risks and improve posture.
• Lead in-depth security investigations across supply chain, API, malware and runtime threats.
• Collaborate with Analysts, Research, and Backend teams to improve detection quality.
• Handle complex incidents escalated from Tier 1/2 and communicate findings to customers.
• Participate in recurring customer meetings and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Stay up to date with emerging threats and best practices in cloud security.
• Contribute to AI-driven detection model development and training.
