Job description

Founded in 1967, Lesday is a growing family-owned hospitality business with a portfolio of 12 pubs across the North Shore, Western-Sydney and Wollongong. Each pub has its own character and audience, so each calls for a marketing approach tailored to the venue.

We’re looking for someone to lead the company’s marketing strategy and direction. Most of our venues have recently been renovated, with plans to renovate the remaining, so we require a person who can showcase each venue properly and reach the right audience for it going forward as we continue to grow.

We have a relatively small head office located in Wahroonga, and don’t have an established marketing team structure, so we are looking for the right person to lead and coordinate the companies marketing direction going forward.

Obviously, we are bias, but the pub industry is exciting to work in, with a lot of great people within in, so finding the right person for this role is really important to us. You’ll be involved in overseeing and executing everything from designing promotional material, assisting with campaign execution to working directly with reps and agencies on activations. We’re particularly looking for an ambitious person with a strong creative eye for design, with a genuine passion for the hospitality industry.

We want to move away from heavy graphics and generic "pub content" and focus on what makes each venue special: its people, its patrons and its staff. We want to find the right balance between group continuity, but at the same time emphasis the individual character of each venue in communicating this message across different marketing mediums.

While qualifications and experience are important, we prioritise finding the right person for our company: someone ambitious and motivated who works well with multiple people, whether they are venue staff, patrons or suppliers. We operate in a people-driven industry, so our marketing lead must be able to communicate and execute a clear direction and share that strategy across different marketing channels.

Overall, we're looking for someone who is passionate and is excited about the pub industry and can showcase the fun nature, atmosphere and great experiences our Team and customers enjoy in our pubs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the group marketing strategy, tailoring the approach to each venue’s brand and audience.
  • Create and drive marketing initiatives across the group.
  • Set brand guidelines that keep each venue’s identity consistent and distinct.
  • Oversee social media, email, website content and paid digital activity (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Google and Meta ads).
  • Coordinate social media and marketing schedules, including the planning and distribution of EDM campaigns to customers and suppliers.
  • Support Lesday campaigns and work with industry reps to coordinate supplier brand activities (e.g. Carlton & United Breweries, Lion, Treasury Wine Estates)
  • Manage the marketing budget, agencies, freelancers and suppliers (e.g. professional photographers).
  • Oversee in-venue displays and promotions, working with venue managers to bring campaigns to life on the floor.
  • Optimise website performance, SEO, landing pages, content and customer journeys, including the management and growth of Google reviews.
  • Coordinating with staff and licensees to produce content for websites, socials and in-venue activity, including posts, reels and stories.
About you:
  • Prior experience in holding a marketing manager position with another company (preferably hospitality related).
  • An enthusiastic and ambitious attitude, with the creativity, initiative and drive to bring fresh ideas to life.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • The ability to manage and work people to communicate and execute a vision and deliver that through mediums.
  • Analyse and report on the return on investment (ROI) of marketing and business development activity and redirect spend to the activities that perform best.
  • A current driver's license.
  • High-level understanding of digital marketing technologies and applications
  • Practical experience using AI tools for data analysis, Google Ads optimisation, CRM segmentation and content production.
  • Experience creating engaging marketing content across multiple platforms, including social media posts, website copy, reels, stories and promotional campaigns.
