Through our Progress 2050 vision, we identify policy issues that matter for Australia's future and pursue solutions to positively shape economic and social development in Australia.

CEDA's membership base includes Australia's leading businesses, community organisations, government departments and academic institutions.

Are you up for your next challenge?

We are hiring a Marketing and Communications Advisor. This is a permanent ongoing position and could be located in Sydney or Melbourne. This is a hands-on role at the heart of CEDA's Brand, Marketing and Communications team. It is a great opportunity to help CEDA turn research, events and member engagement into clear, engaging content across our own channels, the media and paid platforms, taking work from brief through to finished product.

The role works from agreed strategies, priorities, briefs and brand standards, with senior colleagues leading on strategy, editorial direction, channel governance, media advice and key stakeholder relationships. We encourage the successful candidate to bring fresh ideas, and they will receive regular coaching and support from experienced colleagues as they build their skills and take on more responsibility over time.

Responsibilities:

  • Producing and publishing timely, accurate content across media, social media, ceda.com.au and email;
  • Supporting integrated campaigns that grow relevant audiences and deepen member engagement;
  • Producing the annual "impact" report on our successes;
  • Providing day-to-day support to the Director of Communications;
  • Tracking and reporting on how our content performs, and helping it improve; and
  • Helping keep the team's work, calendars and approvals on track, in line with shared priorities, collaboration across teams and accountability for delivery.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Two to three years’ relevant experience in marketing, communications, content, public relations – ideally from an agency or fast-paced environment.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and accurately for digital audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and publishing content for social media or other digital channels.
  • Demonstrated experience writing for and liaising with media.
  • Sound editorial judgement, fact-checking and sensitivity to CEDA's independent, non-partisan position. Awareness of publishing safeguards, including approval delegations, privacy, consent, copyright and accessibility requirements, and escalating sensitive content
  • Curiosity about Australia's economic, social and policy environment and the ability to translate complex research into accessible, accurate content.
  • Experienced in digital marketing tools, including CMS and CRM systems.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and confidence working with colleagues across different disciplines and levels.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, media, commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM, Craft CMS, Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud and basic short-form video production. Familiarity with GA4, native social analytics, SEO principles and campaign tracking.
  • Experience supporting government relations or stakeholder communications.
  • Experience in a think tank, member-based organisation, professional services, research, education or other policy-focused environment.
  • Responsible use of AI tools to support ideation, production and analysis, with appropriate fact-checking and judgement.

You’ll love this role if you are:

  • Passionate about shaping public discussion and influencing public policy on Australia's economic and social development.
  • A practical doer who enjoys turning a brief into a finished output.
  • Curious, coachable and comfortable asking questions.
  • Calm, organised and transparent when priorities compete.
  • Careful and accurate, with an eye for the details that make work great and protect CEDA's reputation.
  • Collaborative and generous in supporting colleagues, while able to take ownership of delegated work.
  • Open to feedback and keen to put it into practice.
