Job summary

Transdev Sydney Ferries offers a maritime Traineeship lasting 12 months, with on- and off-the-job training. You will study for Certificate I/II in Maritime Operations and gain hands-on experience in ferry operations, navigation, cleaning and maintenance across ferries and wharves.

Remuneration is $973 per week plus super and penalties, with a roster including weekends. Applicants must have completed Year 10, be 18, and be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, ready to start end of January

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to swim 50 metres and provide evidence via letterhead from your local pool.
• Australian Citizen or permanent resident
• Willing to work shifts, including weekends

Responsibilities

• On-the-job training across the daily operation, navigation, cleaning, security and maintenance of ferries, wharves and facilities.
• Work in a rotating roster, including overnight shifts where required.

Kickstart your career in maritime by joining us as a journey maker and complete the maritime Traineeship for 12 months at Transdev Sydney Ferries.

Throughout the traineeship, you will participate in a range of on and off the job training and assessments.The traineeship will involve you attending TAFE or equivalent to obtain the following qualifications:

Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal)

Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)

Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver – Grade 3)

The on-job training at Transdev Sydney Ferries will involve engaging in the daily operation, navigation, cleaning, security and maintenance of ferries, wharves and facilities. You will also be required to work in a rotating roster, including overnight shifts where required.

The remuneration package for this role is at $973 per week plus super + penalties, you must also be willing to start at the end of January 2027 to meet enrolment requirements.

What you bring

To be successful in the role, you must have:

completed Year 10 or above and be 18 yrs of age
