Transdev Sydney Ferries invites applications for a Maritime Traineeship in Sydney. This 12‑month program combines on‑ and off‑the‑job training to gain nationally recognised maritime qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Undergo on- and off-the-job maritime training during the 12‑month Traineeship.
  • Engage in daily operation, navigation, cleaning, security and maintenance of ferries and wharves.
  • Work a rotating roster, including potential overnight shifts.

Kickstart your career in maritime by joining us as a journey maker and complete the maritime Traineeship for 12 months at Transdev Sydney Ferries.

Throughout the traineeship, you will participate in a range of on and off the job training and assessments.The traineeship will involve you attending TAFE or equivalent to obtain the following qualifications:

  • Certificate I in Maritime Operations (General Purpose Hand Near Coastal)
  • Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal)
  • Certificate II in Maritime Operations (Marine Engine Driver – Grade 3)

The on-job training at Transdev Sydney Ferries will involve engaging in the daily operation, navigation, cleaning, security and maintenance of ferries, wharves and facilities. You will also be required to work in a rotating roster, including overnight shifts where required.

The remuneration package for this role is at $973 per week plus super + penalties , you must also be willing to start at the end of January 2027 to meet enrolment requirements.

To be successful in the role, you must have:
