SeaLink South Australia offers a structured maritime traineeship pathway beginning with Shipboard Safety Skillset and MED2, advancing to Master 5. This career track develops hands-on experience on commercial vessels while supporting ferry operations across Cape Jervis and Kangaroo Island.
You will gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in Maritime Operations, with training fully funded, uniforms and PPE provided, and ongoing mentoring from industry professionals to support your progression
Join SeaLink South Australia—one of the state’s most trusted and well-established transport providers—while completing two nationally recognised qualifications supported by MRAEL.
You’ll begin with the essential Shipboard Safety Skillset, followed by completing a qualification in Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 (MED2). Here, you’ll gain hands-on experience assisting in the operation and maintenance of marine engines on commercial vessels.
Once you complete your MED2, you will progress to the Master 5 qualification—opening the door to applying for your command accreditation in the future.

Roster: 7 days on / 7 days off (Wednesday–Tuesday), including weekends and public holidays.
