Job summary

Transdev is seeking a Ship Repair Assistant for Balmain Shipyard in Sydney. You will assist the trade staff with general maintenance of vessels, docking and yard upkeep, and coordinating with contractors for safe, timely work.

We value proactive candidates with forklift, height, confined-space and elevated-platform experience, ideally with marine vessels. A willingness to learn and contribute to a safe, enjoyable voyage is essential.

• Exposure or qualifications in forklift operation, working at height, confined spaces and elevated work platforms, ideally with marine vessels.
• Eagerness to learn from peers and contribute to a safe, efficient team.

What you’ll do

We have an exciting opportunity for a Ship Repair Assistant located in our Balmain Shipyard. Reporting to the Production Managers, you will work as part of a team in assisting our trade staff on the general maintenance of our vessels. Your duties will include docking and maintenance of vessels, general yard clean up, interaction with other staff and contractors as well as responding to breakdown maintenance as required. This role will work to support the team in ensuring the works are completed safely and within expected time constraints.

What you bring

We are looking for a proactive and energetic person whose worked in a similar environment. Someone with exposure or qualifications in forklift, working at height, working in confined space, elevator work platform and ideally experienced working with marine vessels.

Most importantly we are looking for someone who is eager to learn from their peers and willing to achieve the team’s common goal of providing a safe and enjoyable journey on our vessels.
