Goldfields Machining in Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our Boulder workshop. You’ll operate lathes, mills, slotter and saws, setting up jobs and reading detailed drawings to manufacture and repair drill rig components.

This residential, Monday–Friday role offers steady daytime hours, no FIFO, and a close-knit team environment. We value practical hands-on workers who can work independently yet contribute when the shop gets busy.

Qualifications

• Must have a Trade Certificate in Machining.
• Hands-on ability and pride in accuracy.

Goldfields Machining is looking for a Manual Machinist to join our Boulder workshop. This role is based in our Boulder workshop (no site work), working on Manual Mills & Lathes to manufacture & repair drill rig components. Some days you are working on feed cradles & DPU’s other days you are making new rod, glands and pistons for a hydraulic cylinder.

The Job

You will be in our Manual workshop using the lathes, mills, slotter & saws as required. You will be responsible for the overall operation of the machines, its productivity and the standard of work produced.

• Setting up jobs
• Reading detailed drawing and/or manufacture from samples
• Use Precision Measuring Instruments
• Be able to cut threads & tapers, use 4 jaw chucks, setup jobs in steadies and tailstocks
• Work in close tolerances

• will have a Trade Certificate in Machining
• is practical and naturally good with their hands

• can work independently without needing someone constantly checking what you’re doing
• is organised and can keep track of what needs to happen next
• works well as part of a team and will pitch in when things get busy

The hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 4:30pm with extra hours available. Home every night, working in an airconditioned shed (perfect for summer coming)
