Job summary

D&T Hydraulics and Engineering Pty Ltd in Mackay invites a skilled Manual Machinist to join our expanding workshop. Trade-qualified with at least 3 years’ experience in machining, you will operate manual lathes, read engineering drawings and ensure high quality workmanship.

Desirable: horizontal borers and MIG welding. We offer excellent working conditions, competitive pay with overtime penalties, a town-based role with home every night, and strong job security in a 44+ year Mackay family.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a machining or manufacturing environment.
• Extensive experience operating manual lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Competent in the use of measuring equipment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised while following Supervisors’ instructions.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The successful applicant MUST:

• Trade-qualified with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a machining or manufacturing environment
• Extensive experience operating manual lathes
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Competent in the use of measuring equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Highly motivated with a strong work ethic
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised while following Supervisors’ instructions
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Hold a current driver’s licence and have reliable transport
• Committed to workplace health, safety, and quality policies and procedures
• Mentor and support apprentices in their development

Desirable (Highly Regarded):

• Experience operating horizontal borers
• Experience with general MIG welding
