Job summary

Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking an accomplished leader to drive the strategic direction of our Technology & Data Services function. You will shape organisational decisions and deliver innovative solutions that enhance services for staff and the community.

Reporting to the Director Corporate & Leisure, you will lead technology, cybersecurity, data, GIS and information management, build partnerships, champion change and ensure secure, reliable systems aligned to business needs.

Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking an accomplished and progressive leader to drive the strategic direction of our Technology & Data Services function. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence organisational decision-making, lead meaningful transformation, and deliver innovative solutions that enhance services for both staff and the community.

Reporting to the Director Corporate & Leisure, you will lead Council's technology, cybersecurity, data, GIS and information management functions, ensuring the organisation has the systems, information and digital capabilities needed to meet today's challenges and embrace tomorrow's opportunities.

As a trusted adviser to senior leaders, you will play a pivotal role in shaping organisational priorities, guiding technology investment decisions and delivering projects that improve productivity, strengthen cybersecurity, enhance customer and employee experiences, and support informed decision-making through quality data and information.

You will lead a skilled and dedicated team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement. Working across all areas of Council, you will build strong partnerships, champion technology-enabled change, and ensure Council's technology and data services remain secure, reliable, future-focused and aligned to business needs.

This role offers a unique blend of strategic leadership and hands‑on impact. You'll have the opportunity to influence organisation‑wide outcomes, lead significant projects, modernise systems and services, strengthen data capability, and help shape the future direction of a growing regional Council.
