Job summary

Emeco International is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor/Leading Hand to lead a team on a heavy earthmoving site. You’ll oversee 80+ machines, drive preventative maintenance, and ensure safe, reliable operations across the site near Mackay.

You will mentor the maintenance crew, champion a safety-first culture, and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders to meet targets and budgets. The role is permanent full-time with an on-site roster and company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification recognised nationally with 5+ years' heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Mining Supervisor Certifications (G1, G8, G9 and G2) are required.
• Standard 11 Competency is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment used in mining.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-the-floor supervision with hands-on leadership across site.
• Coordinate maintenance on 80+ machines, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective work.
• Mentor and develop maintenance team, aligning practices with site standards.
• Promote safety-first culture and ensure compliance and high safety awareness.
• Collaborate with Emeco customers and stakeholders to meet targets and budgets.

About the Role

• Provide ongoing, hands‑on supervision with a strong on‑the‑floor presence, maintaining visibility across site, keeping eyes on equipment, and maintaining a thorough understanding of each scope of work to ensure successful plan execution.
• Lead, manage and coordinate employees, facilities and maintenance activities across 80+ machines, ensuring preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs are completed safely, efficiently, cost‑effectively and to a high professional standard.
• Provide visible leadership, mentoring and support to the maintenance team, working closely with Leading Hands to develop and maintain efficient, productive and accountable maintenance practices across site.
• Actively promote a strong safety‑first culture, leading by example and ensuring safe work practices, compliance and high levels of safety awareness are consistently maintained.
• Ensure maintenance, reliability and optimisation targets are achieved on time and within budget, while working collaboratively with Emeco customers and key stakeholders to support broader organisational objectives.

What You’ll Bring

• A relevant, nationally recognised trade qualification, with at least 5 years' experience managing heavy equipment maintenance in both workshop and field environments.
• Mining Supervisor Certifications – G1, G8, G9 and G2.
• Standard 11 Competency.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment commonly used in mining operations.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and understand operational needs.
• Solid understanding of HSET standards within QLD mining.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen aligned with project goals and budget targets.
