Job summary

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a skilled Maintenance Planning Officer to join our Facilities & Open Spaces Program in a permanent full-time role. You will plan, schedule and coordinate reactive and preventative maintenance across council assets, with about half office-based work and involvement in an on-call roster.

You’ll collaborate with internal teams and contractors to deliver safe, high-quality maintenance while using Assetic and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification or demonstrated trade background.
  • Minimum two years' industry experience.
  • Current Queensland Construction Industry White Card.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Current Queensland 'C' Class Driver Licence (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience using maintenance management systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate reactive and preventative maintenance across building and community assets.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors and operational teams to ensure quality and safety.
  • Maintain documentation and reports using maintenance management systems.
  • Contribute to on-call roster as required.
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to high standards.

Job description

Mackay Regional Council is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Planning Officer to join our dynamic team within the Facilities & Open Spaces Program. This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity within the Facilities & Open Spaces Program and includes participation in an on-call roster (on-call allowance applicable).

About This Opportunity

In this role, you will be responsible for planning, scheduling and coordinating reactive and preventative maintenance activities across Council's building and community assets. The position requires strong organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and confidence working within maintenance management systems such as Assetic.

The role is approximately 50% office-based and involves close coordination with internal stakeholders, contractors and operational teams to ensure maintenance works are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Participation in an on-call roster is required.

  • Experience planning and coordinating maintenance works and projects
  • Strong ability to manage contractors and ensure quality, safety, and compliance
  • Practical knowledge of building maintenance and construction-related activities
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Sound computer skills and experience using systems for work management and reporting
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills
  • Relevant trade qualification or demonstrated trade background
