Job summary

Mackay Regional Council’s Parks & Open Spaces division seeks an experienced Supervisor Operational Maintenance to lead maintenance across Council’s built assets. You will plan, schedule, and deliver maintenance activities, supervise the Facilities Operation Officer and Team Leader, and coordinate minor capital projects with contractors.

You will ensure safety, quality, and timely outcomes while supporting on-call duties, travel, and stakeholder communications across a diverse asset portfolio.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience delivering reactive and preventative maintenance across buildings or facilities.
• Experience scoping, planning, scheduling and delivering minor capital and operational projects.
• Strong contractor, trade and supplier management capability.
• Experience with building condition assessments, maintenance planning and asset renewal activities.
• Ability to read and interpret building plans, specifications and engineering reports.
• Knowledge of building, fire safety and WHS requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and coordinate maintenance across Council’s built infrastructure and facilities.
• Lead delivery of minor capital and operational projects from scoping to completion.
• Conduct building condition assessments and inform maintenance priorities.
• Develop project scopes, cost estimates and resource requirements.
• Manage contractors, trades, suppliers and service providers, including WHS compliance.
• Support contract renewals and improve contractor performance.
• Monitor expenditure and contribute to asset financial performance.
• Provide technical advice on building and facility maintenance to stakeholders.
• Lead, motivate and develop staff fostering safety and accountability.
