Job summary

Holiday Inn Perth City Centre, part of InterContinental Hotels Group, seeks an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations and drive safety, reliability and brand compliance across the hotel. You will oversee capital projects, asset management and energy initiatives while guiding a team of engineers and contractors.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will develop engineering strategies, optimise uptime and partner with leadership to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Maintenance Manager, Engineering Manager, Facilities Manager or similar leadership role.
• Experience managing engineering operations across multiple sites, hotels or large commercial facilities is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of building services, statutory compliance, asset management and preventative maintenance programs.
• Demonstrated experience managing capital projects and contractors.
• Sound financial acumen with experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop teams.
• Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Understanding of WHS legislation and risk management practices.
• Trade qualification, engineering qualification or relevant technical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all building services including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and life safety systems, lifts, BMS and general infrastructure.
• Manage the preventive maintenance programme to ensure compliance with IHG brand standards and legislative requirements.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts and energy management initiatives.
• Plan, coordinate and deliver capital works, refurbishments and asset replacement projects.
• Source, negotiate and manage supplier and contractor agreements to ensure quality outcomes and value for money.
• Ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and improve operational performance through asset management and maintenance reporting.
• Drive sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives across both hotels.
• Participate in the hotel leadership team and contribute to overall business objectives.
• Provide technical expertise and support during emergencies and critical incidents.
• Maintain an effective on‑call structure to ensure engineering support is available when required.

About the Role

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced engineering professional to oversee the maintenance, compliance, asset management and capital projects at the hotel.

As Maintenance Manager, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the engineering function, ensuring both properties are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, guest satisfaction and brand compliance. You will lead a maintenance team, manage contractor relationships, oversee capital expenditure projects and play a key role in delivering our sustainability objectives.
