Job summary

The Sydney Opera House is seeking a casual, temporary logistics assistant to support events and productions. You will help with venue setups, equipment prep, seating, and accessibility, ensuring safety and smooth operations while collaborating with diverse teams.

Applicants should have live theatre or events experience, tool-use skills, and a flexible roster including weekends and evenings. National police checks and health assessments apply.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in live theatre, events, or logistics (minimum 1 year).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and support technical tasks.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence; Forklift licence desirable.

Salary: Base wage of $33.04 per hour, plus 23.3% casual loading and 15.5% scaled penalty plus 12% superannuation

YOUR NEW ROLE

You will be part of a collaborative team delivering logistics support for a wide range of events and productions. You’ll help coordinate venue and foyer setups, equipment preparation, seating and accessibility requirements, and furniture movements, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, you’ll contribute to a positive customer experience and support successful outcomes across staging, lighting, sound, AV, and warehouse operations. ARE YOU THE ONE?

Key Responsibilities/skills:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a live theatre (at least one year), event, performing arts, logistics or operational environment, including an understanding of safe manual handling practices.
  • Sound practical skills in the use of hand and power tools, with the ability to undertake a range of operational and technical support tasks.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence, with a Forklift Licence being highly desirable.
  • Physical fitness, agility and the ability to work at heights, together with a commitment to working a rotating roster including weekends and evenings as required.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team, across multiple disciplines, and effectively use computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
