Job summary

Slade Group is seeking a Logistics Manager to own warehousing, inventory, dispatch and transport across two sites in Melbourne. The role focuses on implementing the first WMS and building CoR compliance, with oversight of budget and KPIs.

You will lead a team, partner with supply and production, and drive scalable logistics processes for a growing FMCG food producer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in logistics, warehousing or supply chain management.
• Proven leadership in manufacturing, food production or distribution.
• Experience implementing or significantly improving a WMS.
• Understanding of Chain of Responsibility (CoR), WHS and transport compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead warehousing, inventory, and dispatch operations across two sites.
• Manage a team of 3–4 direct reports and 10–12 total staff.
• Lead selection and implementation of the first Warehouse Management System (WMS).
• Build CoR compliance frameworks from the ground up.
• Manage third-party transport providers and distribution arrangements.
• Establish KPI reporting and performance systems (DIFOT, freight cost, inventory accuracy).
• Support traceability requirements across multiple food safety accreditations.
• Manage logistics to budget, P&Ls and forecast input.

Logistics Manager

Our client is an established, expanding FMCG food production business, and their logistics function needs to keep pace with growth. They’re creating a brand-new Logistics Manager role to bring structure, systems and commercial rigour to how they manage warehousing, transport and inventory across their network. If you've implemented a WMS before, or you know exactly what good looks like and haven't had the platform to implement or build it, this is that platform.

The Role

You’ll take ownership of logistics, warehousing, inventory, dispatch and transport operations across a metro Melbourne site and an interstate site, working closely with supply partners, production, warehouse, and operations teams. This is a newly created position, there's no legacy system or process to untangle, but there is a genuine gap to close as the business scales.

• Lead warehousing, inventory, and dispatch operations across two sites, one in metro Melbourne, one interstate
• Manage a team of 3-4 direct reports (coordinators, admin, warehouse supervision) and 10-12 total including ticketed operators
• Lead the selection and implementation of the business's first Warehouse Management System WMS, the clear priority for the first 6-12 months
• Build Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance frameworks from the ground up
• Manage and review third-party transport providers and distribution arrangements, with scope to shape a broader carrier strategy
• Establish KPI reporting and performance systems (DIFOT, freight cost, inventory accuracy)
• Support traceability requirements across multiple food safety and quality accreditations
• Manage logistics operations to an agreed budget, P&Ls and support with direct input into forecasted planning

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum 5 years' experience in logistics, warehousing or supply chain management, with demonstrated leadership in a manufacturing, food production or distribution environment
• Genuine experience implementing or significantly improving a WMS, the standout requirement for this role
• Solid understanding of Chain of Responsibility, WHS and transport compliance, ideally with direct exposure rather than theoretical knowledge
• Comfort building systems, processes and reporting from a low base, this isn't a role for someone who needs an established framework to step into
• FMCG or food manufacturing exposure (understanding product urgency and handling standards) compliance across the food sector preferred
