Job summary

Jenner & Co Logistics & Supply Chain Recruitment is assisting a Brisbane-based client to appoint a Warehouse Operations Manager. The role focuses on safety, service, and cost, leading a site-wide team and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

You will drive process improvements across receiving, put away, picking and dispatch, manage inbound/outbound flows, and partner with HR, IT and Finance to optimise cost and performance. Strong leadership and SAP experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Forklift license preferred.
• Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Current driver’s license.
• VCE completed; tertiary education preferred.
• SAP knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Be the site champion for health, safety and wellbeing.
• Conduct regular site audits and action issues identified in a timely manner.
• Implement site strategies and processes to reduce safety related incidents.
• Review all site incident reports and take corrective action promptly.
• Communicate all safety briefs to team members.
• Provide clear performance expectations and manage underperformance with HR support.
• Liaise with ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager to ensure staff mix (Permanent, Casual/Agency).
• Develop standardised process training for warehouse areas: receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, dispatch.
• Ensure all new staff are trained and competent within probation.
• Conduct regular process and team reviews to uphold standards.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and identify root causes.
• Ensure regular slotting for optimal picking and replenishment.
• Schedule shelf replenishment to minimise bulk picks.
• Conduct stock takes and cycle counts as required.
• Provide recommendations to improve site efficiency and productivity and customer service.
• Manage inbound and outbound activities to maximise in-stock availability.
• Seek feedback from sales and operations to identify issues and improvements.
• Communicate potential service issues with ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager and customer service teams.
• Identify and implement service improvement initiatives with leadership.
• Lead, mentor and coach warehouse team to achieve best in class results.
• Collaborate with ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager and HR to hire and develop high-performing staff.
• Deliver constructive feedback to support decision making and development.
• Proactively manage underperformance.
• Work with wider supply chain to maximise service levels at lowest cost to serve.
• Collaborate with Product/Purchasing and Marketing on new ranges and promotions.
• Work with IT to enhance SAP processes for continuous improvement.
• Work with Finance to understand warehouse cost base and manage cost.

There are 3 key focus areas for this role, in order of importance being

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be the site champion for health, safety and wellbeing
• Conduct regular site audits and action any issues identified in a timely manner

• Communicate all Safety briefs to all team members
• Provide clear performance expectations for team members and proactively manage poor performance with the assistance of HR
• Liaise with ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager to ensure the appropriate staff mix ie Permanent
• Casual / Agency to maximise labour productivity and cost
• Develop standardised process training for all warehouse functional areas i.e. receiving, put away, replenishment, picking, and dispatch.
• Ensure all new staff are trained in relevant processes and are competent within the probationary period
• Conduct regular process and team member reviews to ensure process standards are being upheld
• Investigate / resolve stock discrepancies in a timely manner and identify / resolve root cause of errors
• Ensure regular re-slotting to locate parts in optimal locations to maximise picking and replenishment efficiency
• Ensure scheduled shelf replenishment is occurring to minimise picks from bulk / emergency shelf replenishment
• Conduct stock takes and cycle counts in line with business requirements
• Provide recommendations for improving site efficiency and productivity Customer Service
• Manage all inbound and outbound activities in a timely manner to maximise in-stock availability and same day customer expectations
• Seek feedback from sales and operations teams to identify issues and improvement opportunities
• Proactively communicate potential service issues to the ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manger and customer service teams
• In consultation with the ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager identify and implement service improvement initiatives
• Lead, mentor and coach the warehouse team to achieve best in class results
• In partnership with the ANZ Warehouse & Distribution Manager and the HR team hire and develop high performing team members from frontline to internal leadership roles
• Deliver quality feedback to your team to support improved decision making and team development
• Proactively manage underperformance
• Work with the wider supply chain team to maximise service levels at the lowest cost to serve
• Work with the Product / Purchasing and Marketing teams to manage new range introductions, promotions and range changes.
• Work with IT to enhance SAP processes to support continuous improvement initiatives
• Work with the Finance team to understand warehouse cost base and proactively manage cost

SKILLS & CAPABILITIES

• LO and LF Forklift License (preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft suite; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Current Driver’s license.
• VCE Completed, Tertiary Education- preferred
• SAP knowledge (highly desirable)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
