Job summary

Aurizon is seeking a qualified Locomotive Driver based in Junee to operate freight services safely and efficiently across the rail network.

You will ensure trains are fit for departure, conduct brake tests, and uphold on-time performance while delivering excellent customer service to support Aurizon's business objectives.

Qualifications

• Safety-focused and compliant with rail standards.
• Experience with freight operations and heavy haulage is preferred.
• Current NSW/VIC Safe Working responsibilities are advantageous.

In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of freight services across the rail network.

• Operation of locomotives including mainline, shunting and marshalling.
• Examine and certify trains as ready for departure.

• Maintain a high level of on-time running.
• Prepare and conduct brake testing on locomotives.
• Provide high quality customer service to enable Aurizon to meet its set business objectives.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Strong commitment to safety and Aurizon’s safety strategy "I Know Safe, I Choose Safe".
• Must be available to work a 24/7 shift roster.
• Experience working in any of the following Safe Working systems an advantage: NSW & VIC
• Extensive freight and/or heavy haulage locomotive driving experience
• A Certificate IV in Rail Operations (or equivalent)
• NSW & VIC Safe Working
• Current unrestricted driver’s licence
