Job summary

Broken Hill City Council is seeking a suitably qualified applicant for the permanent role of Operations and Technical Officer within the Civic Centre Team in Broken Hill, NSW.

Reporting to the Civic Centre Coordinator, you will provide operational and technical support for conferences, business events, gala dinners and performing arts, ensuring smooth execution and safety across venues. The role requires live production knowledge and adaptability to a busy schedule, including weekend work.

Qualifications

• Understanding of live productions including stage production, sound mixing and lighting systems.
• Experience in contractor management, event logistics and adherence to electrical codes.
• Ability to respond to changing priorities and communicate effectively in a busy venue.
• Willingness to work across seven days as required with penalty rates for weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and technical support to the Civic Centre and broader organisation for conferences, events and performing arts.
• Support successful delivery of concerts, galas and community events; manage stage, sound and lighting operations.
• Maintain consumables and coordinate with contractors; ensure safety and compliance across venues.
• Independently manage workflow and adapt to changing priorities.
