Job description

About The Role

Are you an experienced technical or operations leader who loves bringing great events to life, developing people and making things work better?

Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and organised Operations Coordinator to join the BMEC Leadership Team and oversee our technical, operational and facilities functions. At the heart of this role is leading the department and making sure BMEC has the right people, resources, equipment and systems in place to successfully deliver our shows and events. You’ll lead our technical and custodian teams, plan and coordinate staffing and resources, develop clear technical and operational briefs, and ensure each production and venue hire is properly planned and set up for success. You’ll take a forward-looking approach to the department, developing and upskilling staff, anticipating future workforce and training needs, identifying equipment and technology requirements, and supporting budgets and business cases for future investment. You’ll also maintain oversight of technical equipment, asset, maintenance and compliance registers, ensuring inspections, servicing, certifications, equipment condition and future replacement needs are effectively planned and tracked. As BMEC’s technical and production lead, you’ll be a key source of advice and expertise across the venue. This includes working alongside our creative producer to support the development of Local Stages in house productions, providing practical and creative advice around staging, technical feasibility, production solutions, equipment and resourcing. You’ll also oversee the venue’s facilities and maintenance programs, championing safe work practices and ensuring effective systems, controls, records and compliance processes are in place to keep BMEC safe, well maintained and operationally ready and compliant. As part of the BMEC Leadership Team, you’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, contribute to the broader planning and development of the venue, and help us continually improve our systems, capability and the way we deliver experiences for artists, hirers and audiences. We’re looking for a calm, collaborative and solutions-focused leader who is highly organised, communicates well and brings strong technical or operational experience from theatre, live performance or a similar environment. If you’re excited by the opportunity to lead a department, develop a great team and help make exceptional live performance and events happen, we’d love to hear from you.
