Job summary

Western Power is offering a Lineworker Apprenticeship in Kalgoorlie as part of a 4-year structured program. You will learn alongside qualified tradespeople, gain practical skills in installation, maintenance and inspection of poles and hardware, and work toward a nationally recognised trade qualification.

The role involves on-the-job learning, formal training, and the possibility of travel to training sites and remote locations as rotations require.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Have obtained a C class drivers license.
• Have completed minimum of Year 10 secondary education with English and Mathematics skills.
• Be physically fit and carry the ability to lift heavy equipment.
• Be willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
• Be willing to/have obtained a range of high-risk licensing.
• Be willing to work shift consisting of a 75-hour fortnight (overtime may be applicable).
• Be willing to work and travel in remote locations pending on rotations.

Responsibilities

• Learn to install, maintain and inspect poles, structures and hardware.
• Work alongside experienced tradespeople while developing knowledge and skills.
• Participate in on-the-job training and formal assessments within a 4-year program.

What Does a Lineworker Apprentice Do?

As a Lineworker Apprentice, you will work towards obtaining a Nationally recognised Certificate III in ESI - Distribution Overhead (UET30621).

Alongside experienced tradespeople while developing the technical knowledge and practical skillsrequiredto become a qualified tradesperson:

Gain knowledge in areas such as installation, maintenance and inspection of poles, structures and associated hardware

Nominal term for this qualification is 48 months

What makes me a suitable candidate for Western Power apprenticeships?

Must be 18 years or older to apply for these positions

Have obtained a "C" class drivers license

Have completed minimum of Year 10 secondary education with English and Mathematics skills (depending on your apprenticeship)

Be physically fit and carry the ability to lift heavy equipment

Be willing to complete a pre-employment medical assessment

Be willing to/have obtained a range of high-risk licensing

Be willing to work shift consisting of a 75-hour fortnight (overtime may be applicable, roster days off applicable)

Be willing to work and travel in remote locations pending on your work rotations, including travelling to attend TAFE and external training courses

The ability to interpret complex instructions, designs and diagrams

The ability to operate large equipment such as elevated work platforms and hydraulic drills

Apprentices maybe requiredto undertake training or rotations across different Western Power locations.Final placement locations cannot be guaranteed and will depend on business requirements and workforce demand at the time.
