Job summary

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking passionate and qualified Lifeguards to supervise designated patrol areas and proactively manage beach and water safety risks. Respond to emergencies with confidence and professionalism, provide public safety advice, and support community education programs while maintaining high safety standards across Queensland beaches and lagoons.

This role includes access to certification training and support, with costs covered by SLSQ though some workshop attendance

Qualifications

• Bronze Medallion and Certificate II in Public Safety (or equivalent)
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Current Advanced Resuscitation Certificate
• Working with Children Blue Card or the ability to obtain one
• Ability to complete required beach/lagoon fitness testing
• Commitment to child safety and wellbeing
• Calm and decisive under pressure
• Passionate about community safety

Responsibilities

• Monitor and patrol designated beach or lagoon areas
• Establish and maintain safe bathing areas for the public
• Identify and manage hazards to minimise risks
• Respond to emergencies and perform rescues, first aid, and resuscitation when required
• Complete incident reporting and operational documentation
• Conduct equipment and vehicle checks to ensure operational readiness
• Support community awareness and water safety education programs
