Job summary

OOCL Logistics, a division of Orient Overseas Container Line, is seeking a Senior Licensed Customs Broker to join our North Sydney office. You will oversee import/export declarations, provide customs advice, and coordinate with government agencies and carriers to ensure timely clearance.

The role requires a licensed Australian Customs Broker with at least 5 years in Australia and strong knowledge of tariffs, valuation, and trade compliance.

Qualifications

• Licensed Australian Customs Broker with a valid Customs Broker Licence.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in customs brokerage within Australia.
• Strong knowledge of ICs, customs regulations, tariffs, valuation, and trade compliance.
• Proficient in Expedient or similar customs/freight forwarding systems.
• Strong customer service, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and compliance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• More experienced candidates will be considered as Senior Customs Broker.

Responsibilities

• Process and lodge import/export declarations, SACs, EDNs, and PRAs through Expedient, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Provide customs, trade, and compliance advice while managing customer enquiries, escalations, and disputes.
• Handle SCA enquiries and act as the key contact for complex customs matters.
• Liaise with government agencies, regulatory authorities, carriers, and internal stakeholders to facilitate timely clearance.
• Monitor customs legislation and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Manage LOAs, LOIs, debit notes, and related customs documentation and records.
• Support operational planning, reporting, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead customs compliance projects, including OOCL Trusted Trader certification and pre-clearance initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Senior Licensed Customs Broker to join our growing Customs Brokerage team based in our North Sydney office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated customs professional looking to take on a broader role, supporting the Operations Manager in compliance, operational oversight, team coordination, and strategic customs initiatives, including Australian Trusted Trader certification.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient customs clearance operations while supporting our commitment to providing exceptional service to our customers.

Your key responsibilities include but not limited to:

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Relevant degree and full Australian working rights.

Minimum 5 years' experience in customs brokerage within Australia.

Strong knowledge of ICs, customs regulations, tariffs, valuation, and trade compliance.

Proficient in Expedient or similar customs/freight forwarding systems.

Strong customer service, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and compliance.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
