Job summary

Woollahra Council is offering a fixed-term 18-month traineeship in Library Services. The Library Trainee role provides guidance from an experienced team and hands-on exposure to all library operations. You will perform customer service, loan/return tasks, and assist in daily library activities.

The program supports studying for a Certificate IV in Information and Library Services while working full-time at busy library locations in Double Bay.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a School Certificate or HSC.
• Not qualified in Library and Information Services or related field (no university degree or TAFE LIS).
• Willing to undertake the Certificate IV in Information and Library Services over 18 months.
• Strong customer service orientation and helpful communication skills.
• Good time management and ability to work full-time while studying.

Responsibilities

• Provide general library customer service, handle loan and return transactions.
• Assist in day-to-day library operations and participate in cross-team projects.
• Support a friendly, efficient library environment and help visitors with inquiries.
