Job summary

Sunshine Coast Council’s Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch seeks a Library Officer to deliver outstanding customer service and champion the full range of library services. You will support digital literacy, community programs and vibrant library spaces, contributing to lifelong learning and inclusion.

The role offers hybrid working arrangements, with a focus on face-to-face and digital interactions across Sunshine Coast Libraries.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a library, information service or customer service environment.
  • Certificate III in Library and Information Services (or equivalent) and a current Blue Card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Tech-savvy with digital tools and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and information assistance to library users.
  • Facilitate library programs, events, literacy activities and learning sessions.

About The Role

The Arts, Heritage and Libraries Branch enriches the lives of residents and visitors by providing arts and cultural leadership, opportunities, knowledge, experiences and meaningful community connections. Through innovative library services, programs and resources, the branch supports lifelong learning, literacy, inclusion and community wellbeing across the Sunshine Coast. As a Library Officer, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding customer service while championing the full range of Sunshine Coast Libraries services, resources and programs. From supporting digital literacy and information services to facilitating engaging community programs and maintaining vibrant library spaces, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of library users every day

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and information assistance to library users.

About You
  • You are a customer-focused professional who enjoys helping people and creating positive experiences for a diverse range of community members. You thrive on delivering high-quality service and communicating with confidence.
  • You have experience working in a library, information service or customer service environment and can provide information and support through multiple channels, including face-to-face, phone and digital interactions.
  • You are tech-savvy and confident learning, using and demonstrating digital tools, systems and emerging technologies. You enjoy helping others build their digital literacy skills.
  • You are an enthusiastic team player who can engage groups of varying sizes, deliver engaging programs and contribute to creating welcoming spaces that encourage learning, connection and discovery. A Certificate III in Library and Information Services (or equivalent experience) and a current Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one, will support your success in the role.
Pre-Employment Medical Required

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
