Overview

Reader Innovations and Programs Librarian at Bayside City Council. Permanent position with a 35-hour week (Monday to Friday) plus rostered weekends. Location: All Bayside Library branches. Salary: Library Band 6 - $101,833.74 p.a. + 12% superannuation.

About the Role

Bayside Libraries are looking for a passionate and creative librarian to lead the development and delivery of programs that inspire a love of reading and literature within our community. In this role, you’ll design and coordinate engaging events, initiatives, and innovative reader activities for adults across our Libraries, helping to build a vibrant culture of lifelong learning. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure programs are high-quality, inclusive, and responsive to community needs. This position offers variety and flexibility, with opportunities to work across all Bayside Library locations.

You will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with library staff to design library programs
  • Monitoring, reporting upon and being accountable for key performance indicators in Library Programs
  • Leading the process of assessing, prioritising and ensuring the delivery of the programs within Bayside Libraries (12-month) schedule
  • Developing innovative reader-centric services
Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Librarianship qualification recognised by ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association) or a complementary tertiary qualification with extensive equivalent experience in a public library setting
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships across all levels
  • The confidence and ability to step into existing projects and hit the ground running
  • A highly organised individual who can ensure the organisation continues to meet its strategy and plan commitments through project, program, and initiative delivery
Mandatory pre-employment requirements
  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
  • A current Victorian Driver’s licence
