Job summary

Mentone Primary School is seeking a Learning Specialist to advance teaching and learning across the school, with a focus on literacy, numeracy and data-informed practice.

You will model exemplary classroom practice, deliver demonstration lessons and mentor teachers, while collaborating with the leadership team to implement whole-school improvement strategies. The role emphasises professional learning and student wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
• Ability to model high-impact teaching strategies and literacy/numeracy across the curriculum.
• Ability to monitor and assess student learning and growth using data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with staff, students and families.
• Proven capacity to lead and facilitate school-based professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
• Work with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of effective teaching.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
• Provide professional learning, including observation/feedback protocols and peer collaboration.
• Model effective learning practices and support teachers to act on feedback.
• Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform development.
• Provide expert advice on context and strategies shaping professional learning.
• Supervise and mentor student teachers and coach teachers.
• Model use of student data to inform teaching approaches and PLCs.
