Job summary

Doveton College in Melbourne seeks a Learning Specialist – Professional Practice to lead and model exemplary teaching across the school, focusing on literacy and numeracy, data-informed practice, and whole-school improvement. The role requires collaboration with SIT, PLT leaders, and staff to embed the VTLM 2.0, Berry Street Education Model, and PCMS to create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum and ability to model exemplary teaching practices across literacy and numeracy.
• Expertise in high-impact teaching strategies and using data to inform instructional decisions.
• Ability to model monitoring/assessment of student learning and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage collaboratively with students, staff and the wider school community.
• Ability to reflect on practice, lead professional learning, and support staff through professional development.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Model exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstrations.
• Lead and model whole-school improvement strategies (VTLM 2.0, Berry Street Education Model, PCMS).
• Provide professional learning for staff and PLTs as required.
• Mentor and coach teachers; use data to inform practice and drive improvement.
• Contribute to curriculum planning, data analysis and school improvement planning.
