About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and motivated Learning & Development Advisor to support the delivery of our Learning & Development Strategy and strengthen capability across our organisation.

Working closely with the Learning & Development Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the day-to-day activities of the L&D team, providing coaching and mentorship, and ensuring our training programs, resources and development initiatives deliver meaningful outcomes.

As the second-in-charge within the team, you'll take ownership of key projects, oversee the development and quality of learning materials, and work closely with operational leaders to identify knowledge gaps and deliver practical learning solutions. You'll also play an active role in facilitating training, supporting professional development pathways and ensuring our learning programs reflect current industry practices and regulatory requirements.

This is a full-time role based at our Melbourne HQ in Hawthorn with a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Learning & Development Manager in implementing the L&D and People Strategies, translating organisational priorities into practical learning initiatives.
  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership of the L&D team, including workload planning, task allocation, prioritisation and coaching team members to build their capability and independence.

  • Oversee training delivery, learning resources and the Learning Management System (Ignite), ensuring content is engaging, accurate, accessible and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor training participation, completion rates and feedback, manage day‑to‑day L&D enquiries and provide on‑site leadership and operational support in the L&D Manager's absence.
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in an OSHC leadership or operational role, with a strong understanding of service operations and the challenges faced by frontline teams.
  • Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standard (NQS), relevant legislation, approved learning frameworks and Child Safe Standards.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and developing others, with the ability to build confidence, accountability and independence within a team.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, learning design and effective training delivery, with the ability to translate operational requirements into practical learning solutions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage different audiences and communicate complex information clearly.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, build stakeholder relationships and deliver projects within deadlines.
  • Confident using digital technologies and learning platforms, with strong attention to detail, initiative and a genuine passion for developing people and improving learning experiences.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in School Age Education and Care or Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable but not essential).
  • Experience designing, developing or facilitating workplace training programs, professional development workshops or adult learning.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems and digital content development tools.
Why work for us?
  • Genuine opportunity to step into a leadership role and help shape the direction of Learning & Development across TheirCare.
  • Opportunities to develop your leadership, project management and strategic capability.
  • The chance to make a meaningful impact on employee development, service quality and outcomes for children.
  • A supportive, values-driven culture where you're part of a caring, open and engaged team.
