Job summary

Berendsen Fluid Power, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Leading Hand to support the day-to-day operations of our Dandenong South workshop, with a focus on hydraulic cylinder repairs.

This role suits an experienced workshop leader with hydraulics background, or a qualified mechanical fitter looking to advance into leadership within a well-established fluid power business. You’ll coordinate daily workshop activities and guide a team while staying hands-on as needed.

Qualifications

• A mechanical fitting trade qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience in hydraulic cylinder repairs, hydraulic systems, mechanical fitting or industrial equipment maintenance.
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Workshop Supervisor or in a role involving the coordination of workshop activities.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and repair instructions.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing workshop priorities.
• A hands-on approach to leadership, with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
• Hydraulic cylinder repair experience will be highly regarded, but isn’t essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating the daily workflow of hydraulic cylinder repairs, including job allocation, scheduling and prioritisation.
• Providing direction and technical support to mechanical fitters and machining personnel.
• Overseeing the inspection, dismantling, repair, assembly and testing of hydraulic cylinders.
• Assisting with the preparation and review of work scopes, repair instructions and technical specifications.
• Monitoring job progress to ensure repairs are completed within agreed timeframes.
• Supporting fault‑finding, troubleshooting and the resolution of technical issues.
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality control and workplace safety.
• Working closely with workshop management to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and productivity.
• Remaining hands‑on and assisting with mechanical repairs and workshop activities as required.

About the Role
