Redpath Mining is seeking a Leading Hand Fitter for Appin Mine in Australia. The role is full-time and permanent, overseeing a team of underground fitters and ensuring safe, efficient maintenance of mobile equipment.

You will lead breakdown and scheduled maintenance, diagnose faults, manage tasks, and ensure compliance with site standards. A trade qualification and supervisory experience are essential, with a valid driving licence and rotating rosters required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant is essential.
• Extensive experience maintaining underground mining equipment.
• Previous Leading Hand or supervisory experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced mining environment.
• Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Ability to work rotating rosters (e.g. 5/2 or site-specific).

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of underground fitters on shift.
• Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on heavy mobile mining equipment.
• Coordinate planned maintenance and breakdown response activities.
• Diagnose faults and ensure timely, quality repairs.
• Allocate work tasks and monitor team performance.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with site and statutory requirements.
• Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and documentation.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and workshop organisation.
• Liaise with supervisors and operations to minimise downtime.
• Promote strong safety culture and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

Role Overview: An experienced Leading Hand Fitter is required to support maintenance operations at Appin Mine. This role provides hands‑on leadership, overseeing a team of fitters while ensuring safe, efficient maintenance of underground mobile equipment.
