Job summary

Northparkes E22 Project in Central West NSW seeks an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to lead maintenance on a modern Sandvik underground fleet. You will mentor tradespeople, coordinate breakdown and scheduled maintenance, and drive equipment reliability for safe underground operations.

The role requires a trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, with prior supervisory experience in underground mining and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or equivalent.
• Experience as a Leading Hand or supervisory tradesperson in underground mining.
• Strong experience with Sandvik underground mobile equipment.
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills across heavy mobile plant.
• Sound understanding of underground mining operations and safety.
• Current Australian driver's licence and roster flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise maintenance personnel on site.
• Perform scheduled and breakdown maintenance on Sandvik underground equipment.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical faults.
• Coordinate daily maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
• Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard.
• Mentor tradespeople and apprentices; maintain records and documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in the maintenance department.

Working on a modern fleet of Sandvik underground mobile equipment, you will play a critical role in leading maintenance activities, mentoring tradespeople, and ensuring equipment reliability to support safe and productive underground operations.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Leading Hand Diesel Fitter will coordinate and participate in the maintenance, servicing, diagnostics, and repairs of underground mobile mining equipment while providing day‑to‑day leadership to the maintenance team.

• Leading and supervising a team of maintenance personnel
• Performing scheduled and breakdown maintenance on Sandvik underground equipment
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, hydraulic, and auto electrical faults
• Coordinating daily maintenance activities to minimise equipment downtime
• Ensuring all maintenance work is completed safely and to a high standard
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to tradespeople and apprentices
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance department
• Promoting and maintaining Redpath's strong safety culture

Qualifications

About You

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Possess

• Australian recognised Trade Qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or equivalent
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Senior Diesel Fitter, or Supervisory Tradesperson within underground mining
• Strong experience maintaining Sandvik underground mobile equipment
• Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills across heavy mobile plant
• Sound understanding of underground mining operations
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
• Current Australian driver's licence
• Ability to work effectively within a 14/14 roster arrangement
• Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence
