MacKellar Group is a leading mining services contractor delivering safe, reliable and efficient heavy equipment solutions across Australia. Our Fleet Services team supports a large fleet of heavy mobile equipment, ensuring our assets are maintained to the highest standard and ready for operation.

We’re currently looking for an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to join our Fleet Services Workshop in Nambour.

Qualifications

• Previous Leading Hand or senior trades experience.
• Strong heavy mobile equipment maintenance experience.
• Ability to lead, support and coordinate a team of tradespeople.
• Strong focus on safety, quality and workmanship.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of workshop activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the workshop maintenance team.
• Carry out servicing, repairs, diagnostics and preventative maintenance.
• Allocate and coordinate daily workshop tasks.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Identify and resolve mechanical issues across the fleet.
• Support maintenance planning, parts requirements and job prioritisation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to apprentices and less experienced tradespeople.

The Role

Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, you’ll provide hands-on leadership to our workshop maintenance team while continuing to carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs and diagnostics across our fleet.

This is a Monday to Friday role, offering a great opportunity for an experienced Diesel Fitter looking to step into or continue in a leading hand position in a workshop environment.

About You

• Trade qualified Diesel Fitter / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic / Plant Mechanic
• Previous Leading Hand or senior trades experience
• Strong heavy mobile equipment maintenance experience
