Job summary

MacKellar Group is seeking experienced Preventative Maintenance Fitters for our Carmichael Mine operation. The role is FIFO from Rockhampton or Townsville with a 7/7 day shift roster and Level 4 day shift pay.

You will identify defects early, perform preventative maintenance across mobile mining equipment and support planning and service bay supervision to keep fleets reliable and safe. To succeed, you should hold a trade qualification as Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic, have extensive

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic.
• Experience maintaining large-scale mobile mining equipment.
• Strong preventative maintenance and defect identification experience.
• Proactive approach to identifying equipment issues.
• Experience with work orders, maintenance systems and defect management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-start and pre-service inspections to identify defects and potential failures.
• Proactively identify and address equipment issues before they result in breakdowns.
• Complete preventative maintenance activities across the mobile mining fleet.
• Identify, scope and document defects, including required parts and repair requirements.
• Create and manage work orders to ensure identified maintenance requirements are captured and actioned.
• Assist with work order backlog management in conjunction with the Planning team.
• Conduct machine audits to identify maintenance and reliability opportunities.
• Work closely with Planning to prioritise and schedule preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide clear communication on equipment condition and outstanding work.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard.

MacKellar is a leading Australian mining contractor delivering large-scale mining and earthmoving services across Australia. We’re looking for experienced Preventative Maintenance Fitters to join our maintenance team at the Carmichael Mine.

This role

is focused on identifying potential issues early and completing preventative maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime and keep our fleet performing safely and efficiently.

About the role

Reporting to the Service Bay Supervisor, you’ll work closely with the Planning team to identify defects, manage maintenance requirements and ensure preventative maintenance activities are effectively planned and completed.

About you

You’ll be a qualified Diesel Fitter / Plant Mechanic with strong mobile mining equipment experience and a proactive approach to maintenance.

You will have:

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Plant Mechanic or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining large-scale mobile mining equipment.
• Strong preventative maintenance and defect identification experience.
• A proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential equipment issues.
• Experience with work orders, maintenance systems and defect management.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to equipment reliability.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Planning and Maintenance teams.
• A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
