Job summary

Mister Shade Pty Ltd on the Sunshine Coast is seeking an Operations Supervisor / Team Leader to manage day-to-day onsite operations and lead the installation crew. The role blends office coordination with field leadership, site visits and client meetings.

You will guide the team, monitor progress, ensure safety and quality, organise materials and scheduling, and contribute to system improvements as the company grows.

About the role

Operations Supervisor / Team Leader – Shade Structures

Mister Shade Pty Ltd Sunshine Coast, QLD Full-time position

Mister Shade is a growing Sunshine Coast business specialising in residential and commercial shade sails, waterproof structures and aluminium awnings.

We are looking for a reliable, professional and highly organised Operations Supervisor / Team Leader to take ownership of our day-to-day onsite operations and provide strong leadership to our installation team.

Mister Shade operates as a team-based business, and our employees rely on one another to keep projects moving. In this role, the team will look to you for daily direction, organisation, support and leadership. You will have the authority and responsibility to coordinate the crew, maintain standards and ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently and professionally.

This is not purely an office position or an installation role. You will work between the office, job sites and client meetings. You must be comfortable leading from the front and stepping onto the tools when required, particularly on larger or more complicated projects.

• Providing clear daily leadership and direction to the installation team
• Scheduling jobs, installations, site visits and team movements
• Allocating employees and subcontractors to the appropriate projects
• Organising materials, tools, vehicles and equipment
• Running onsite crews and setting clear expectations
• Checking plans, measurements, job information and site requirements
• Ensuring everything required is organised before each job begins
• Monitoring job progress, labour hours, quality and productivity
• Identifying potential delays or problems before they affect a project
• Keeping ServiceM8, Trello and internal job information updated
• Communicating professionally with customers before, during and after installations
• Conducting site visits and liaising with clients, builders and suppliers
• Completing quality‑control checks and ensuring defects are addressed
• Maintaining high safety, presentation and workmanship standards
• Supporting team members and holding them accountable when required
• Keeping management informed of job progress, issues and team requirements
• Assisting with onsite quoting and sales where you have suitable experience
• Helping develop better systems as the business continues to grow

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have previous experience leading teams in a shade‑sail, construction, building, roofing, structural‑steel or similar trade‑based operation.

Direct shade‑sail experience would be highly regarded, but it is not essential if you are a capable leader with strong practical knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to learn our systems.

You will need to be:

• Reliable, punctual and accountable
• A confident leader who earns the respect of the team
• Highly organised and capable of managing several jobs at once
• Able to provide clear instructions and maintain team standards
• Approachable and supportive while still holding people accountable
• Professional when dealing with customers, builders and suppliers
• Comfortable using job‑management software, phones and tablets
• Able to understand plans, measurements and installation requirements
• Practical, solutions‑focused and able to make sensible decisions onsite
• Willing to take ownership rather than wait to be continually directed
• Capable of working in both an office and hands‑on site environment
• Focused on productivity, profitability and delivering excellent results

A current driver’s licence and relevant construction‑industry tickets are required. Trade qualifications, leadership experience, working‑at‑heights training and machinery tickets will be highly regarded.
