Job summary

Benzini Precast Concrete is seeking a skilled Leading Hand - Precast Concrete for a full-time, on-site role at its Yatala factory in Queensland. You will turn the Project Manager's production programme into safe, well-organised factory work and lead a small team on site.

You will oversee daily planning, drawings interpretation, QA, and ensure finished products are ready for dispatch, with progression opportunities as capability and responsibilities grow.

Qualifications

• Strong practical knowledge of concrete production, ideally precast or architectural concrete.
• Experience supervising or mentoring production workers.
• Ability to read drawings and check reinforcement and cast-in components.
• Attention to concrete finishes, workmanship and quality.

Responsibilities

• Organising daily work and briefing the factory team.
• Reading drawings and checking formwork, reinforcement, cast-ins and pre-pour requirements.
• Supervising concrete placement, vibration, curing and finishing.
• Completing QA records and addressing issues before work proceeds.
• Ensuring finished products are protected and ready for dispatch.
• Keeping the Project Manager informed of progress, material needs, testing requirements and production issues.

Established in 1993, Benzini Precast Concrete manufactures custom architectural precast products at Yatala, Queensland, including seating, planters, steps and other elements for commercial and public projects. We combine in-house mould making, casting and finishing with support from Hudson Civil Products' concrete manufacturing experience.

Role Description

As the business develops, the right person may take on broader production planning and operational responsibilities. Progression will reflect demonstrated capability and an agreed review of responsibilities and remuneration.

Experience and Skills

• Strong practical knowledge of concrete production, ideally in precast or architectural concrete.
• Experience supervising or mentoring production workers.
• Ability to read drawings and check reinforcement and cast-in components.
• Attention to concrete finishes, workmanship and quality.
• Confidence making day-to-day decisions and stopping work when something is wrong.
• A calm, reliable approach to safety, organisation and communication.
• Comfort using a phone or tablet for photographs, checklists and QA records.
