Job summary

AirSWIFT in Sydney seeks a Primary Design Engineer for substations and transmission projects. You will deliver primary design solutions for high-voltage substations from concept to construction support, collaborating with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

The role requires degree in Electrical Engineering, experience in substation design, familiarity with AIS/GIS, and knowledge of Australian standards. Hybrid work and exposure to major utility projects are offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and relevant professional registration.
• Experience in primary substation design and transmission projects.
• Familiarity with AIS/GIS switchyards and transformer/reactive plant concepts.
• Knowledge of Australian standards and utility regulations.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation for electrical design.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver primary substation designs for transmission projects.
• Develop equipment layouts, switchyard configurations and electrical clearances.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical assessments.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports and design documentation.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Participate in client workshops, design reviews and project meetings.
