Job summary

WSP in Australia is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join the Queensland Mining team in Townsville. You will lead structural integrity projects across mining and heavy industrial assets, balancing design with field assessments and lifecycle extensions.

You will mentor engineers, engage with clients, and drive junior teams while delivering high-quality structural solutions in a dynamic, on-site environment in Queensland.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is mandatory.
• RPEQ registration or eligibility to obtain it is required.
• Extensive experience in mining, resources, heavy industry or asset-intensive environments.
• Strong background in steel and concrete structural design.
• Experience with inspections, integrity assessments and remedial engineering.
• Knowledge of Australian structural design standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural engineering and integrity projects across mining and heavy industrial assets.
• Deliver inspections, integrity assessments, evaluations and remediation recommendations.
• Undertake concept, detailed and brownfield design of mining infrastructure and facilities.
• Provide technical leadership for steel and concrete structures and materials handling systems.
• Develop remediation strategies and life-extension solutions for ageing assets.
• Build relationships with mining clients and support business development.
