Job summary

Populous in Sydney seeks a Planning Package Lead to own the development, coordination and delivery of spatial planning strategies for complex architectural projects, working with project leads, clients and consultants to translate requirements into coordinated planning solutions.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, develop planning drawings, schedules and diagrams, and mentor junior members while ensuring alignment with design intent and project objectives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognised university.
• Current Architectural Registration in Australia (desirable).
• Approximately 5–10 years' professional experience in an architectural practice.
• Demonstrated experience developing spatial planning solutions for complex projects.
• Strong understanding of spatial planning principles, user experience and adjacencies.
• Experience preparing planning drawings and accommodation schedules.
• Proven ability to translate client requirements into planning outcomes.
• Strong design and problem‑solving skills and collaboration across teams.
• Experience coordinating with consultants and stakeholders.
• Advanced BIM and Revit proficiency.
• Strong graphical, presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and support team members.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple packages.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of planning packages, from briefing to detailed design.
• Develop spatial planning strategies balancing objectives and user needs.
• Coordinate planning drawings, diagrams and documentation.
• Mentor planning team members and allocate work.
• Work with clients, package leads and consultants for aligned outcomes.
• Facilitate workshops, reviews and presentations to gather input.
• Ensure quality, timing and project objectives are met.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and internal teams.
