Job summary

HDB Town Planning & Design is seeking a motivated planning professional to lead and mentor planning colleagues, delivering Site Assessments, Statements of Environmental Effects, Planning Proposals and Environmental Impact Assessments. The role includes managing a range of state- and regional-significant projects and liaising with engineers, ecologists and heritage consultants.

We are a specialist development and planning consultancy located in Central Maitland, just a five-minute walk to Maitland Train Station, with services to Newcastle every 30 minutes.

The Role

The role will include:

• Lead and mentor planning colleagues.

• Prepare a range of planning documents and reports, including Site Assessments, Statements of Environmental Effects, Planning Proposals, and Environmental Impact Assessments.

• Managing and delivering a range of state and regionally significant projects.

• Liaise with other technical professionals (engineers, ecologists, heritage consultants).

• Managing projects to meet deadlines.

• Establishing and maintaining client relationships.

• Being part of the senior management team and contribute to the strategic direction of the business.

To be successful in the role, you will require:

• An advanced working knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.

• Substantiative experience working within the New South Wales planning system.

• Demonstrated experience in delivering complex projects.

• Hold or be working towards Registered Planner status with PIA.

• Strong organisational, communication (written and verbal), and presentation skills.

• A passion for delivering outcomes for clients.

• Well-developed leadership skills.

• Business development acumen.

• Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Other desirable skills include:

• Urban design experience.

• Experience/proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.

• Experience working in the private sector/consulting.
