Job summary

The Tour Collective in Brisbane seeks an experienced Lead Skipper to helm Spirit of Mulgumpin, our premium catamaran delivering full-day experiences from Brisbane to Moreton Island.

You’ll lead the onboard crew, uphold safety and high standards, and create a welcoming, professional guest experience through calm leadership and clear communication.

Based at Rivergate Marina, this full-time role starts now and reports to the Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• Master <24 m NC required.
• MED 2 NC required.
• Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation/Oxygen Administration.
• RSA certificate, or willingness to obtain.
• QLD driver licence required.
• National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.

• Safe navigation and operation of Spirit of Mulgumpin.
• Leading and supporting the onboard crew.
• Maintaining a strong safety culture and high operating standards.
• Making sound decisions around conditions and day-to-day vessel operations.
• Delivering clear crew and guest briefings where required.
• Helping create a professional, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere onboard.
• Working closely with the wider See Moreton team to deliver a consistent guest experience.
• Supporting vessel presentation, operational readiness and relevant marine compliance requirements.
• Being a visible, approachable leader for both crew and guests.

See Moreton is looking for an experienced Lead Skipper to take the helm of Spirit of Mulgumpin, our purpose-built premium catamaran operating full-day experiences from Brisbane to Moreton Island / Mulgumpin.

This is more than getting a vessel from A to B.

Our guests come to us for a complete day on Moreton — cruising the bay, guided snorkelling at the Tangalooma Wrecks, wildlife encounters, paddleboarding, beach time, great food and genuine hospitality.

We’re looking for a Lead Skipper who combines strong marine capability with calm leadership, sound judgement and a genuine enjoyment of working with people.

The role

As Lead Skipper, you’ll take responsibility for the safe and professional operation of Spirit of Mulgumpin while leading the onboard team and helping deliver the standard of experience See Moreton is known for.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Safe navigation and operation of Spirit of Mulgumpin

About you

You’re an experienced commercial skipper who takes safety and professionalism seriously without losing the human side of the job.

You lead calmly, communicate clearly and understand that a great skipper sets the tone for the entire crew.

You’ll ideally bring:

• Relevant commercial marine qualifications for the vessel and operation

• Strong commercial vessel experience

• Demonstrated leadership and crew-management capability

• Excellent situational awareness and decision-making

• A safety-first approach

• Strong communication skills

• A professional, practical and hands-on attitude

• Confidence interacting with guests from Australia and around the world

• Pride in your vessel, your crew and the experience you deliver

Minimum qualifications

• Current Master less than 24 metres Near Coastal (Master <24 m NC) Certificate of Competency

• Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 Near Coastal (MED 2 NC) Certificate of Competency

• Minimum 12 months’ commercial vessel-handling experience

• Current First Aid, CPR and Advanced Resuscitation/Oxygen Administration certification

• Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate, or willingness to obtain

• Current driver licence valid in Queensland

• Light Rigid (LR) or Medium Rigid (MR) driver licence – highly desirable

• Valid National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
