Job summary

SeaLink South East Queensland, part of the Kelsian Group, is seeking a Master <45m NC to manage vessel operations in South-East Queensland. You will lead safety, navigation and customer service while ensuring compliance with regulations and the Safety Management System.

The role requires proven leadership, strong communication and a commitment to a seven-day, variable schedule, including weekends and public holidays. Relocation not offered.

Qualifications

• Master < 45m NC (Certificate of Competency) required.
• MED 3 or higher certified seafarer medical.
• Current AMSA Form 1850 medical fitness for near coastal work.
• First Aid and CPR certification required; Advanced First Aid desirable.
• PEC for Moreton Bay area highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily safe and efficient operation of the vessel.
• Maintain safety leadership, customer service and reliability on board.
• Ensure compliance with laws, company policies and Safety Management System.
• Lead fast-paced, dynamic teams with excellent interpersonal skills.

About the Role

We are currently seeking Casual Masters less than 45m NC to join our operations here in South-East Queensland. Based out of Cleveland and Redland Bay, these positions require energy, motivation, enthusiasm and the flexibility to meet operational demands.

As Master you will be responsible for the daily efficient operation of your vessel, whilst always maintaining excellence in safety, leadership, customer service, and reliability. The primary function of the role is the safe and secure operation and navigation of the vessel and to ensure the health and safety of all passengers and crew on board.

In addition, maintaining compliance with all relevant laws, company policies, procedures and responsibility for the implementation and verification of the vessel’s Safety Management System.

If you have a proven track record as a dedicated strong leader, with a high standard of interpersonal and organisational skills, have adept written and verbal communication skills and proven safe ship handling experience this role is for you.

The successful applicants will be able to demonstrate experience working within fast-paced, dynamic teams; have exceptional leadership skills, vessel-handling ability, knowledge and compliance of legislation and operating procedures, customer service, and a safety focused approach.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master < 45m NC (Certificate of Competency) - Essential
• MED 3 or higher - Essential
• Current Certificate of medical fitness for near coastal seafarers (AMSA form 1850) - Essential
• Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and CPR - Essential
• Provide Advanced First Aid (HLTAID014) and CPR – Desirable
• Hold or have the ability to obtain a PEC for the Moreton Bay area - Highly desirable
• Demonstrated Leadership skills
