Job summary

Uniting Vic.Tas in Sale, VIC is seeking a Child, Youth & Families professional for a permanent full-time role. You will provide community-based support and case management to promote child safety and wellbeing, coordinating with families and services.

The role involves working with referrals from The Orange Door, applying Best Interests Case Practice Model, and contributing to prevention of escalation to statutory intervention.

Qualifications

  • Minimum tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or a related discipline.
  • Experience providing services to children, youth and families.
  • Ability to network with community agencies and DFH.
  • Strong understanding of Best Interests Case Practice Model and CYFA 2005.
  • Commitment to child safety and preventing abuse and neglect.

Responsibilities

  • Promote stability and wellbeing for children and young people.
  • Coordinate and lead case management with multiple stakeholders.
  • Connect families with community resources.
  • Respond to concerns affecting parenting, such as mental health or family violence.

Your new role

The Family Services Strengthening Families stream provides community-based support and case management to help children, young people and their families overcome challenges. The primary goal is to promote child safety, build parenting skills and prevent family situations from escalating to the point where statutory intervention is required.

Referrals are received through The Orange Door.

  • Promoting and responding to stability and wellbeing for children and young people.
  • Coordinating and leading case coordination with multiple stakeholders.
  • Connecting families with community resources.
  • Responding to concerns that impact on parenting such as mental health, alcohol and other drugs or family violence.

Your skills and experience

You will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Minimum tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare or a related discipline is essential

You Will Also Have
  • Demonstrated ability in child, youth and family welfare.
  • Experience working with vulnerable families and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to network and establish sound working relationships with related services, especially other community agencies and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing.
  • Strong knowledge of Best Interests Case Practice Model and CYFA 2005.
  • Advanced understanding of child development, trauma and attachment.
