Western Power is seeking a Lead Planning Engineer in Perth CBD to provide technical leadership across complex planning initiatives that shape investment decisions and the long-term capability of WA's electricity system. This role focuses on transmission planning, major grid transformation, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver robust network solutions and credible engineering standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Eligible for CPEng/NPER registration, or progressing toward accreditation.
• Extensive experience in electricity network planning and power systems analysis.
• Experience undertaking power system studies, including load flow, fault level, voltage stability and network constraint analysis using PowerFactory.
• Demonstrated ability to develop practical, cost-effective network and non-network solutions.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers and influencing complex stakeholder decisions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical analysis into clear recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex network planning assessments to inform investments.
• Provide technical leadership in multidisciplinary planning teams.
• Evaluate planning solutions with risk, steady-state, RMS and EMT studies.
• Support grid transformation and decarbonisation with expert advice.
• Develop criteria, methodologies and engineering frameworks.
• Contribute to engineering standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to solve network challenges.
• Mentor planning engineers and graduates.
