Job summary

JLB Landscaping is seeking a hands-on leading hand to coordinate daily site activities, lead workers and apprentices, and oversee projects from planning through handover.

You will read plans, set-outs and levels, plan materials and deliveries, monitor workmanship, guide apprentices, and liaise with the owner on progress and changes. This role requires a current White Card, a valid driver’s licence, and the ability to work independently on-site in Melbourne.

Qualifications

• Hands-on landscape construction experience.
• Leading hand or site supervision experience preferred.
• Able to read plans, measure, and set-outs.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Must have current Driver's Licence and White Card.
• Landscaping qualifications and machinery experience are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily site activities and allocate tasks to workers and apprentices.
• Lead by example and work on the tools.
• Read and interpret plans, carry out set-outs and establish levels.
• Plan ahead for materials, equipment and deliveries to keep jobs moving.
• Monitor workmanship and address issues before they affect the finish.
• Guide apprentices and help develop their skills.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades as required.
• Communicate progress and site issues with the owner.
• Identify changes to the scope and raise them before proceeding.
• Maintain a safe, tidy and organised site.
