Job summary

Bendigo Bank is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to shape the technical direction of our Consumer Lending Technology domain. You will tackle complex problems across squads, designing for long-term simplicity, reliability, and security.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Consumer Lending Technology, you will drive technical standards, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to deliver scalable lending solutions for retail banking, brokers and partners.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience.
• Full-stack expertise: Java and React.
• Deep experience with AWS, Microservices (REST/GraphQL), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Quality and security focus: clean code, automated testing, observability.
• Strategic influence: translate business goals into pragmatic engineering strategies.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity and delivering with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support Principal Engineers with architectural design and strategy for core systems.
• Embed engineering best practices in testing, security, and CI/CD to reduce technical debt.
• Mentor engineers and build technical capability through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders on cross-domain initiatives and technical assessments.
