Job summary

HMG Hardchrome in Brisbane is seeking an experienced Fitter/Machinist to take a permanent Machine Shop Leading Hand role in the Production Department (Large Line). This hands-on leader will work on the tools, lead by example, support the team, and ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality production outcomes in a busy workshop.

Qualifications

• Australian recognised trade qualification as Fitter/Machinist (essential).
• Proven experience in a workshop or manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience as a Leading Hand or in a similar supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of production processes and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on leadership and direction to production employees.
• Coordinate daily workflow to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Promote and maintain safe work practices and compliance with site procedures.
• Monitor job progress, workflow efficiency, and quality of completed work.
• Assist with problem-solving and elevate issues when required.
• Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team culture.
• Liaise closely with the Production Supervisor and workshop teams to ensure smooth operations.
